Quake arean1/10/2023 ![]() ![]() The player movement, pace of the game and level design are of top notch. Single player part works with this mod without any problems. As of now the server browser found only one available server, but you can always create a custom one by yourself. The only problem with this version is that it requires the servers to be modded with it as well. It overhauls the game textures even more and has some improvements regarding widescreen support (bigger weapons for example). There's also another way with the use of Q3 Spearmint engine (which is based on ioQuake3 and that's why the mod page states that it's ioQuake3). Basically with these mods you'll have access to almost all Q3 servers that are still working. You can download ioQuake3 engine and mod it with new, shiny icons and textures which don't interfere with online play. There are two ways to mod Q3, but only one allows to play on the most of available servers. Blurry textures are worse than pixelated ones, so of course I decided to find some mods. The game servers are filled mostly with bots unfortunately, but I'll give it a try on the weekend and I'm pretty sure that I'll find some people still playing this game in 2020. These include a mysterious arena that was almost lost, a strange empty room, as well as a battleground that has drifted beyond reality.You've probably noticed my other thread in which I suggested some great mods which overhaul the graphics and gameplay of Q1. Some areas of the Arena Eternal have been hidden for some reason or lost over the ages, making them unaccessible through normal means. This region features large "terrain" battlegrounds that appear to be located on the surface of planets. This new area features numerous new team battlegrounds where the five Clans compete. A Tier usually has a specific theme that distinguishes it from the rest.Īt some point in time, the Vadrigar developed a keen interest in team-based combat, which lead to the construction of a new section of the Arena Eternal. New recruits must pass through an introductory battle before they are allowed to advance through the higher ranks in the Tiers - Trainee, Skilled, Combat, Warrior, Veteran, Master and Elite, which is the home of the ultimate Arena Master.Įach of the lower Tiers has an Arena Master of its own, which stands as a last obstacle before fighters trying to advance to the next level. This is where the primary battles take place. ![]() The main section of the Arena Eternal is devided into seven Tiers, which correspond the different levels of gladiator expertise. Some arenas feature unique and/or hidden features that can only be found by the most inquisitive gladiators. There are also various helpful features, such as teleporters, gates, bounce pads and acceleration pads. ![]() The environment features numerous hazards, such as water, slime, lava, Fog of Death and the Void. Each of these battlegrounds appears to be isolated from the others, existing within a "pocket" of its own. There are gothic castles, demonic temples, hi-tech factories, fetid crypts and more. The Arena Eternal consists of various battlegrounds, each with a unique environmental theme. They have varying levels of combat expertise and display different behaviour in combat.Īt some point, the Vadrigar became interested in team-based combat, which led them to form five distinctive Clans.
